  • Setting up and breaking down equipment: Groundsman help to set up and break down the equipment that is used in tree trimming and removal, such as chainsaws, stump grinders, and chippers.

  • Moving limbs and debris: Groundsmen help to move limbs and debris that have been cut from trees. They may use hand tools, such as axes and saws, or they may use machinery, such as skid steers or chippers.

  • Setting up safety zones: Groundsmen help to set up safety zones around the work area to protect bystanders and other workers. They may use cones, barricades, or tape to mark off the area.

  • Operating machinery: Groundsmen may be trained to operate certain pieces of equipment, such as chainsaws or chippers. They may also be trained to drive trucks or other vehicles.
